The Hidden Treasures of Prayer
Isaiah 45 verses 1 through 3 reads as follows from the NIV version of the Bible:
1 “This is what the LORD says to his anointed,
to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of
to subdue nations before him
and to strip kings of their armor,
to open doors before him
so that gates will not be shut:
2 I will go before you
and will level the mountains[a];
I will break down gates of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.
3 I will give you hidden treasures,
riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the LORD,
the God of Israel, who summons you by nam
One of the keys within this passage is the idea of the Lord going before you in bringing about a new and previously unknown personal paths that contain hidden treasures.
It says in verse 3,” who summons you by name”, and these verses while in part are specifically addressed to Cyrus who was a later historical figure that these verses are prophetic for, the concept is that there is a personal call to an individual known by name even in the midst of all that drama out there that seems so confusing at times and like a swirling tide going who knows where..
A key signal point is that personal call to you, the citing of your name maybe in the midst of the lineup of the masses, the crowd, showing that you are a star or luminary as far as communication from the Lord specifically to you, telling that the Lord’s say as always is the final say.
Cyrus was being pointed out by name in these verses even though he was not yet born, and didn’t come from any direct line of power later on, yet was given the power by the Lord spoken of here.
His example is another indication from this passage, that the dealings of the Lord with a given individual can completely bypass established norms and protocol, Cyrus was given the keys even though he himself was a complete outsider and really didn’t know the Lord himself at first.
Mountains are an established norm or protocol, who can even imagine whole mountain ranges disappearing, yet if they interfere with what the Lord is doing, they might be moved, and it may involve interfacing with the faith of a praying person, as it mentions in the gospels the faith that can move mountains. It is the Lord that moves the mountains, but faith generating from one praying individual that works in conjunction with the graces of the Lord, in moving mountains and also revealing after that hidden treasures. The faith that says to the mountain be thou cast into the sea, also continues further on to hidden treasures, previously unknown riches that are reachable only through the faith of a praying person.
What this passage points to in prayer and in the relationship with the Lord is that there can be secret treasures that are previously unknown and unannounced found in that place , between you and the Lord, and any interference towards that can be removed by the Lord for you.
The leveling of mountains is symbolic of revealing of that which had been secret and previously unknown. The mountains in this context would be seen as impassable, and that idea can be brought forth even today where mountain ranges can be quite imposing and symbolically unmovable. But the mountain ranges are really anything that looks to be limiting the response of the Lord to a prayer, and anything that limits any possible response to prayer, can sovereignly be removed by the Lord, who does anything he pleases on heaven and earth..
What is being revealed is often beyond what you may be familiar with, or believed was possible, but that doesn’t mean you cannot bring forth the prayer of faith at the outset, and cast the mountains away, even know you do not know the treasures that might be there and might be revealed as indeed they were hidden and secret even from you, the praying person..
I will give you hidden treasures,
riches stored in secret places,
I Indeed, how can this passage relate to a praying person in this day and age?,
It can be observed that many people generally have their eyes upon riches to a greater or lesser degree in the way we understand riches such with one big thing being monetary wealth, and people are driving themselves forward on behalf of that issue. If you don’t quite see it, you can feel it, feel it in the news, feel it in the papers, feel it in the complaints out there.
Protocol becomes a way of understanding the world. But towing the line in this fashion or that fashion doesn’t ferret out the reality of mystery and the hidden realities of what the Lord may have as far as secret treasures. The Lord may tip the scales of the nations in any direction he pleases. He can also tip the scales of your personal fortunes as well, as quickly as the passing clouds. Being on the side of less or no prayer, probably is not the best game plan even if things are already going well. Achievements, advances, riches, may not hold through quickly changing circumstances.
Within the prayer relationship, there can be more of a tuning in to the Lord’s actions being great, mysterious, and at the same time obvious if you are paying attention under the prayer watch..
A second aspect of this is not to so much tunnel vision your prayer efforts. I might want a house and I am not getting it, and I am making this the linchpin of my prayer requests, when the outreach of prayer as per the example of Elijah and others can be vast and unfathomable and I can quietly and easily pray for people all over the world in the close communion of the prayer relationship with the Lord, and to give up this prayer position for one prayer request you might have an overdo on, might also be an issue that compromises effectiveness in prayer.
Yet, panic arises when that one prayer request seems to be like the hidden treasures that will remain hidden.
And this ties in to the race to what may be considered riches today.
It might be like the panic of the herd trying to get their water at the watering hole.
While running right by the spiritual mysteries sought and found in prayer.
The thing to do is keep praying, but reorient and redirect the sphere of thinking and watching to the possibility of hidden treasures found by a more advanced and sublime approach to prayer that keys into the leading of the Holy Spirit and the direction of the Holy Spirit towards big requests of an intercessory nature where you are working with the Lord who thereby will be working for you..
You might not be thinking of the treasures because you don’t know what they are or how they might manifest but the circle of your thinking should be kept open and aware to the greater possibilities, like a seafarer looking upon the great mysteries of the oceans, not quite knowing what is out there, but on the watch nonetheless..
But prayer is the aid to get us in greater concert with what these hidden treasures may be and how they might reveal even today and even in upcoming moments as the impediments can be moved away like circulating clouds that disappear as suddenly as they appear..
Things like extending periods of meditation before the Lord can be useful to still the understanding of your spirit in the presence of the Lord and to begin to delve into these unfathomable mysteries that reveal in the still waters of psalm 23, which are there with and for the soul of the praying person..
Realizing first that the encounter is personal, the call forth of the lightening across the sky is to you, your name is on the bright lights of the apple of the Lord’s eye..
The leveling of the ancient mountain ranges, for clearing to the riches, has your name on it.
The bigger hand in the equation is always the Lord’s hand

He Lord will take hold and fashion the way.
“so that you may know that I am the LORD,
the God of Israel, who summons you by name”
To start with even today, there can be an increasing reliance on personal prayer and meditation, something ironically that does not require riches to commence, and which will put the individual person in a position more ready and able to be in the know that the call from above is also personal, that they are summoned by name, and the exchange of hidden treasures, into mysterious now opened doorway of riches of any description, are summoned forth through the might and power of the Lord personally directed to you, as they were for Cyrus, who was called by name in these verses by the prophet, even before he was born..
